-Continuing our Service to You During the COVID-19 Pandemic The Forest Service is taking the risks presented by COVID-19 seriously and is following the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, State and local public health guidance as we continue to offer services to the public. -There are three official, government-wide sources of up-to-date information about the coronavirus: Coronavirus.gov, CDC.gov/coronavirus, and USA.gov/coronavirus. -At this time, the Forest Service continues to remain open and operational, and we are committed to the continuity of our mission. Our primary delivery of public service will occur through virtual means (ie. telephone and online service). -Personal firewood cutting will continue to be free through Dec. 31, 2021, but woodcutters should first obtain a hard-copy permit. Permits can be obtained by calling district offices. Permits are being required to assist the Forest Service with tracking harvest information and to allow for sharing of important wildfire safety and firewood collection information. -Please read these Frequently Asked Questions for answers to common questions about our operations at this time.
